So… I’ve been re-installing Windows 7, and have found some considerable improvement in judicious use of a RAM Drive. It also means my computer is no longer tracking my movements around the web for more than one session. (RAM drive never goes to swap, and is never stored on disk … so it will never be recoverable) There is probably more I can do with it, and the linking has to be done while the OS is off-line. I use a PE boot CD, but that means the environment variables and drive letters listed are wrong. If you want to attempt this “at home” you will have to adapt them to suit the off-line environment you use… having noted their on-line locations before rebooting. So far, everything is going swimmingly. 😀
